The purpose of the conference is to raise awareness of what apologetics is, why it matters, and introduce major apologetic questions. The first five conferences - with themes of “Introduction to Apologetics”, “Reliability of the Scriptures”, “Who is God?”, “Does God Matter?”, and "I'm Glad You Asked: How Good Questions Turn Doubt to Faith" - were very well received by attendees and have promoted these topics within our denomination. This year's theme is "Practical Apologetics: Engaging Others with Truth & Grace". All of us want to make Jesus known, as we have known Him. This year we are providing some practical teaching that can help any Christian take steps to engage familiar and new people with truth & grace. The secular world is providing answers, often without dialog, compassion, or a consideration of Biblical perspectives. At the 2025 Apologetics Conference, we will look at how we are equipped to listen, support, and respond to each other with Love, Respect, and Truth. More information and a registration link can be found on the ETR website . Registration is required so that Congerville can make adequate plans for food, materials, and staffing. We encourage Apostolic Christian ministers, Sunday School teachers, and spouses to register early as these topics relate directly to their church roles. We want to share the passing of Bro. Ken Manz from Junction. He’s a brother to Sis. Alice Widmer and grandfather to Sis. Heather Hartzler. No arrangements yet as he was in Romania at the time of his death. We also share the passing of Henry “Hank” Lanz, who is an older sibling to Bro. Ralph Lanz. He has lived in Costa Rica since retirement. The Single Group has invited the local churches for a singing with their guests next Sunday, Aug 31, at 7:00 PM here at the church as part of their Labor Day invite. A snack will be served afterwards in the lunchroom. The Apostolic Christian Village is excited to announce that several donors have stepped forward to offer a match for the next $270,000 in donations given towards the Aspen Square building campaign. Your generosity has helped to get us up and running with under $1M of debt on a $10M project, and we're hoping to continue to close that gap with this matching opportunity. Donations towards the Aspen Square project will be matched until the match is met or through the end of this calendar year, whichever comes first. At some point in the future, we may take a special collection but, in the meanwhile, donations can be given directly to the Apostolic Christian Village or through the church Nursing Home box. As always, your ongoing support is greatly appreciated. The Toledo Congregation would like to invite students who will be attending school in the Toledo area, and their families for a picnic after church on Sept 14 at 4:00 PM.
